It was great to see so many people interested in our project!

Some of the pictures are a bit blurry, we apologise for that in advance.

LF Experiences - Birte (Germany)

We have Language Friends from all over the world and the beauty of the program is that you don't have to be native. An example of this is Birte, from Germany.

At the beginning she was worried about not being a native... She turned out to be one of the student's favorites. One day she had 7 students with her!

1. Where do you come from?
I am from Germany, more precisely from Hamburg.
2. What are you studying?
My main subject is German literature and my second subject is philosophy. So I don't normally get in touch with the English language in my studies.
3. How did you hear about the project?
I met Bea and Anna, who are part of the project, at an information fair for my university. It was fun to talk to them and the project sounded very interesting to me, so I thought I will just give it a try.
4. Do you feel that students appreciate your attendance?
The students are awesome without any exception. They are really grateful and it was very easy to get in contact with them. It always feels good when they are reacting happily every time you show up in class.
5. In your opinion, what is the best thing that the project has to offer?
The definitely best thing of this project was that I learned so much in so many different ways. I got to know great new people, new cultures, I also improved my English and I learned a lot about myself, which was maybe the greatest thing.

Thank you Birte. We will miss you!!

LF experiences - Andrew (USA)

Now some feed back from the USA. Continuing with our interviews we have Andrew from United States of America.

Andrew was with us from day one, one of the many who came to our introductory meeting. He seemed to have enjoyed the first experience since he kept coming! :)

1. Where do you come from?
- New York
2. What are you studying?
- Computer Science
3. How did you hear about the project?
An email through the school I believe.
4. Do you feel that students appreciate your attendance?
- Absolutely, I get genuine thank you's usually after every class. They also liked the input I had when we were talking about the USA; they found it interesting to learn what the book had to say, and what a native had to say about the same topic.
5. In your opinion, what is the best thing that the project has to offer?
- I think the best thing about the project is knowing you helped somebody on that day. Helping someone is always a good feeling, and you can see how much they appreciate it.

Thank you Andrew, we learned so much about the USA with you!

LF experiences - Huzaifa (UK)

We have asked some of our most regular Language Friends to do an interview so we could share with you first hand feedback on the experience.

Here we have the interview with Huzaifa from United Kingdom. Got to know the project later than other Language Friends but became a regular in a matter of days! :)

1. Where do you come from?
- I come from just outside of London, England, near Heathrow Airport.
2. What are you studying?
- I'm studying Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Loughborough University, England. Currently on a one year UNITECH exchange programme at Chalmers Tekniska Högskola.
3. How did you hear about the project?
- I heard about the project through the International section of the magazine Spionen.
4. Do you feel that students appreciate your attendance?
- Yes, the students really appreciate me being there. It gives them motivation to speak in English in class with someone who is fluent and in my case, a native English speaker.
5. In your opinion, what is the best thing that the project has to offer?
- The project opens up a whole new world for those learning English and for us Language Friends who want to give something back to the community. It gives an opportunity for international students taking part as a Language Friend to meet others with similar interests.

Thank you so much Huzaifa!

Once again LFP magic

A piece of art created after two hours of Language Friends Experience. Done on purpose or not...you can actually read a message other than the GP's headlines:

Black lizard spotted [on the] wall [with a] wall paper chequered, striped [by the] staircase. Sometimes [with] posters, curtains...
Signed,
Teddy Bear
That was fun!

John's Weather Forecasting Stone

This is definitely what an unusual forecasting method looks like. This chart offers help in predicting the weather -that sometimes seems to be so unpredictable. This method puts all type of guessing to rest.

Now the big question is: Where can we get one? This is so plain and simple that even meteorologists would know how to use it!

Must-know things about Sweden before moving here

In her article 20 things to know before coming to Sweden, Lola Akinmade-Åkerström talks about all the unwritten norms in Swedish society.
A very interesting article, especially with a foreigners point of view.

With how many of the 20 statements do you agree?

You can read the entire article: here
